Nacque ad Agira il 24 febbraio 1866. La sua attività di drammaturgo e commediografo inizia giovanissimo. Di professione maestro di scuola nel paese di Nissoria, percorre ogni giorno a piedi la strada in compagnia dei minatori che lavoravano nella vicina miniera di zolfo. I loro racconti lo ispirano per la stesura della sua migliore opera, la Zolfara. Viene rappresentata con successo per la prima volta nel 1895 a Catania.  Nei primi anni del ventesimo secolo scrisse un dramma sul processo a Gesù. Nelle opere Signor Mastru Sinnacu del 1903 e e Fargaris di Spagna, del 1904, rappresenta e deride il potere delle classi dominanti. Morì, povero e malato, a Roma il 10 Luglio 1923.

He was born in Agira on 24 February 1866. His activity as a playwright and playwright began at a very young age. A school teacher by profession in the town of Nissoria, he walks the road every day in the company of the miners who worked in the nearby sulfur mine. Their stories inspired him to write his best work, Zolfara. It was successfully performed for the first time in 1895 in Catania.  In the early years of the twentieth century he wrote a drama about the trial of Jesus. In the works Signor Mastru Sinnacu from 1903 and Fargaris of Spain from 1904, he represents and mocks the power of the ruling classes. He died, poor and ill, in Rome on 10 July 1923. 

Il est né à Agira le 24 février 1866. Son activité de dramaturge et d'auteur dramatique débute très jeune. Professeur des écoles de profession dans la ville de Nissoria, il parcourt chaque jour la route en compagnie des mineurs qui travaillaient dans la mine de soufre voisine. Leurs histoires l'ont inspiré pour écrire sa meilleure œuvre, Zolfara. Elle fut jouée avec succès pour la première fois en 1895 à Catane.  Au début du XXe siècle, il a écrit un drame sur le procès de Jésus. Dans les œuvres Signor Mastru Sinnacu de 1903 et Fargaris d'Espagne de 1904, il représente et se moque du pouvoir des classes dirigeantes. Il mourut pauvre et malade à Rome le 10 juillet 1923.

Er wurde am 24. Februar 1866 in Agira geboren. Seine Tätigkeit als Dramatiker und Dramatiker begann bereits in sehr jungen Jahren. Von Beruf ist er Schullehrer in der Stadt Nissoria und geht jeden Tag in Begleitung der Bergleute, die in der nahegelegenen Schwefelmine arbeiteten, die Straße entlang. Ihre Geschichten inspirierten ihn zu seinem besten Werk, Zolfara. Es wurde erstmals 1895 in Catania erfolgreich aufgeführt.  In den frühen Jahren des 20. Jahrhunderts schrieb er ein Drama über den Prozess gegen Jesus. In den Werken „Signor Mastru Sinnacu“ von 1903 und „Fargaris von Spanien“ von 1904 vertritt und verspottet er die Macht der herrschenden Klassen. Er starb arm und krank am 10. Juli 1923 in Rom.
