Nacque a Palermo il 20 settembre 1859, dove inizia la propria carriera come scultore. Nel 1878 si trasferisce a Firenze (Clicca su questa località per scoprire gli hotels, i ristoranti, i musei, le attività aderenti a questa nostra iniziativa). Nel 1880 ritorna a Palermo. Successivamente si reca a Parigi. Nel 1895, rientra in Italia dopo quindici anni. Nel 1897 partecipa alla III° Esposizione Triennale di Brera. Insegna all'Accademia di belle arti di Firenze (Clicca su questa località per scoprire gli hotels, i ristoranti, i musei, le attività aderenti a questa nostra iniziativa). Nel 1910 partecipa alla Biennale di Venezia. Nel 1911 realizza il disegno della moneta da 2 Lire commemorativa dell'Unità d'Italia. E’ nominato Accademico d'Italia. He then went to Paris. In 1895, he returned to Italy after fifteen years. In 1897 he participated in the III° Brera Triennial Exhibition. In 1910 he participated in the Venice Biennale. In 1911 he created the design for the 2 Lire coin commemorating the Unification of Italy. He was named Academician of Italy.
