Nacque a Piano di Sorrento nel 1892. Nel 1914 si laurea in ingegneria navale.  Appassionato d'arte, nel 1938 compra l'Autoritratto di Modigliani sfidando il clima ostile all'arte "giudaica". Ospita l’artista Mario Mafai, nella sua casa di Quarto dei Mille perché la moglie rischia l'espulsione a causa delle leggi razziali. Nel 1941 a Milano nella Galleria della Spiga di sua proprietà espone le opere di giovani artisti accusati di ebraismo. Il 26 Giugno 1973 muore a S. Margherita Ligure, all'età di ottantuno anni.

Passionate about art, in 1938 he bought Modigliani's Self-Portrait, challenging the climate hostile to "Jewish" art. He hosted the artist Mario Mafai in his home in Quarto dei Mille because his wife was at risk of expulsion due to the racial laws. In 1941 in Milan, in the Galleria della Spiga that he owned, he exhibited the works of young artists accused of Judaism. Er wurde 1892 in Piano di Sorrento geboren. 1914 schloss er sein Studium als Schiffsingenieur ab.  Als leidenschaftlicher Kunstliebhaber kaufte er 1938 das Selbstporträt von Modigliani und widersetzte sich damit dem Klima, das der „jüdischen“ Kunst feindselig gegenüberstand.
